12th January – 3rd March, 1996

No. of visitors: 70.883

This exhibition plunged the visitor into the world of smells of al-Andalus. It was an imaginary journey through the most important enclaves of a city of al-Andalus, that were recreated for the exhibition: the souk, the mosque, the houses and the gardens. The visitor felt invaded by smells, perfumes, sensations and essences, many of them are still used today.

In this exhibition, the fragrances that often accompanied courtiers, gardeners, poets and gastronomes were reproduced, introducing a range of essences of aromatic plants in special dispensers that allowed capturing their scent.
