Project “Innovation development. T-GUIDE. Tour guides for people with intellectual disabilities and learning problems in Europe”

Program Leonardo da Vinci. Lifelong Learning Program

Implementation period: 2013-2015

The role of guides as mediators between tourists and their destination is quite important in the transmission of knowledge for the tourism sector. Regarding people with intellectual disabilities and / or learning difficulties and their capacity to fully enjoy tourism services (as reflected in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities), the training of tourist guides is crucial. In this sense, the project encouraged the debate of these issues at European level and provided training materials for tourist guides focused on tourist accessibility for people with intellectual disabilities and / or learning difficulties.
